I Want to Indulge

verb: allow oneself to enjoy the pleasure of

I can’t remember the last time I indulged. In anything. I just don’t do it. I do what is expected of me. What is necessary. What is next.

I do daydream about it though. Indulging in an expensive pair of shoes. Perhaps some of my favorite flowers. Traveling to somewhere exotic? Spending an entire day doing only what I want to do. Can you even imagine?

A couple of weekends ago I did it for an entire day. I indulged myself. I slept in. Then I let the day slowly unwind without any pressure to clean or do laundry. I took a nap. I watched an old movie. I did cook dinner, but only because I really wanted to. I took a long hot bubble bath. It was a spectacular Sunday.

I can’t wait to do it again. Summers end is almost in sight. Enjoy. Be well. Indulge. I’m making a date  to indulge and I hope you will too, we deserve it, and I kind of like that about myself.

“Every once in awhile, a girl has to indulge herself.”

Sarah Jessica Parker
